Our Mission

A means of increasing quality of life

Threads of Hope, founded by Al Barrett in 1998, is a ministry of Missionary Ventures International. Our ministry vision is towards widows, orphans, and indigenous pastors. Our purpose is to bring sewing skills and equipment in order to meet the needs where God directs us. These skills offer a great tool as well for missionaries and ministers to build relationships in the communities they serve, enabling them to introduce the gospel while training nationals, the motivation behind this mission.

Our intent is to help them gain financial stability, giving them a start they could not otherwise have on their own. They in turn learn the love of God while we offer them a hand up, not a hand out.

This mission was born (out of Africa) from outreaches to the Maasai tribe in Kenya and Tanzania that began in 1996. Since then, it has reached numerous African countries and 27 other countries around the world and in the USA.

Our main focus has been in Africa, bringing sewing machines and much-needed skills and most importantly, the best gift any one can bring to anyone…God’s Holy Word and the gift of salvation! In Jesus’ name and with the help of many prayer and financial partners, we go.
